We were at the Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey on Sunday where 25 SLS Pro skateboarders were battling for their last opportunity to make it to the SLS Nike SB Crown World Championship.

1st: Luan Oliveira
2nd: Nyjah Huston
3rd: Kelvin Hoefler

No doubt, it was the most intense competition of the season. Recent winner of his first SLS victory in Los Angeles, Luan Oliveira battled for first against reigning World Champion Nyjah Huston. Luan’s consistency of high scores throughout the competition was topped off with the highest-scoring 9 Club trick: a 360 Flip Noseslide down the bubba with a 360 Shovit out that scored a solid 9.5. Not even having to attempt his last trick after securing first place Luan Oliveira made sure to keep the crowd on their feet with a 360 Flip down the big set that deserved its 9.0.

There was plenty of energy in the room to keep the crowds on their feet throughout the event: SLS veterans David Gonzalez and Ryan Sheckler were back after a season of injuries last year. Rookie Kelvin Hoefler killed it and placed third, no surprise as he’s been climbing up the ranks at Dew Tour events winning 1st and 2nd in 2014. - Watch out for this guy!
